34 Dogs Supposedly For Meat Trade Saved In Batangas
The authorities rescued 34 dogs that are supposedly to be butchered in Barangay Coliat, Ibaan, Batangas.
The authorities planned an entrapment operation after receiving intelligence report about a certain group that use to kill dogs for meat trading. They found the dogs being lodged inside two crates. Some of them were already injured because of the overcrowding.
Unfortunately, the authorities didn’t find anyone. Found in the area are blow torch, hammer, knife and a weighing scale.
The complaint was filed by Melchor Alipio, an employee of the Network for Animals and member of the Philippine Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PSPCA). He noted that the suspect, identified as Benildo Alegria, might have been noted of the police operation that’s why he wasn’t around.
The rescued animals were brought to the PSPCA in Manila where they will be treated and will be up for adoption.
The authorities launched a manhunt operation against Alegria for violation of the Republic Act 8485 or Animal Welfare Act. It was found out that there is already a complaint filed against him for the same act.
