Californian Ex-Teacher Arrested for Having Sex with a Minor in PH

A former school teacher was arrested and now in custody of the police after he was proven had a sexual encounter with a minor in the Philippines.

The US Federal Authorities announced that they captured Robert Ruben Ornelas after it was proven that he flew from USA all the way to Philippines in order to prey on a young woman. In 2012, he had an intercourse with a 14-year-old lady and got it on tape.

The video was retrieved after the authorities confiscated his computer last June 2013. His computer also contained different explicit photos and videos featuring young women that were dated as early as 2007.

His relatives suspected of his illegal acts after they discovered that he had been stealing social security and rental money from his mother who is suffering from dementia. It was also revealed that the relatives use to observe Ornelas’ inappropriate behavior towards young women.

In an interrogation with the officials, Ornelas denied that he touched young women inappropriately. He however admitted that he fathered two children with two sisters in the Philippines. He recalled that one was only 17-years-old.

The charges against Ornelas in Orange County, following the arrest in 2013 in connection with possession of child pornography and molestation, were still pending. He allegedly molested a relative from 1990 to 1995.

Ornelas, now 64, worked as a school teach in Sta. Ana School District from 1992 to 2003. He also coached a local girls’ football team. He is also believed to have worked at an unlicensed day-care facility since 1980s.

He is now being held without bail on the federal charges. His next arraignment is on November 10. The federal charges carry a cumulative maximum sentence of 80 years in federal prison.
