The Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU) Lady Eagles ended the eliminations without a loss.
This was after the lady in blue defeated the De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Archers 25-20, 21-25, 25-23 and 27-25 in front of 13,300 fans at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena on Wednesday, February 18, 2015.
As usual, The Eagles’ team captain Alyssa Valdez is the main woman of the game finishing with 29 points. She was helped by rookie Bea De Leon and Jhoana Maraguinot who contributed 11 and 10 points respectively.
La Salle’s team captain Ara Galang topped her team’s scoring list with 20 points, which is actually not her usual, specifically noting a big game like this. Her fellow senior, Mika Reyes added eight points while Carol Cerveza and Cyd Demecillo contributed seven points each.
The two teams went head to head and none allowed one to go further. In the third set, the deadlock continued until the 22nd point. However, the lady in green suffered a heart-breaking meltdown wasting two points out of reception errors.
The exchanges of points continued to the fourth set until Ateneo reached their 22nd point, leading their opponent by one. Then, Coach Ramil De Jesus made a decision of filling in Desiree Cheng as the setter.
The game of La Salle changed until the game is locked in 25 points. Maraguinot however made a back-to-back points ending the game with flying color.
The ADMU now has thrice-to-beat advantage.
