Triathlete Dies In Cebu Ironman Event

One of the athletes who participated in the Cobra Ironman Challenge 70.3 Philippines in Mactan, Cebu died.
The athlete was rushed to Mactan Doctor’s Hospital after he was found unconscious off the waters of Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa where the athletes started on Sunday morning.
It was confirmed by the Lapu-Lapu Police that the man was declared dead on arrival at 8:45 a.m.
The organizers noted that the athlete was given with “required medical attention during the swim portion of Sunday’s race, and was properly transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated.”
Meanwhile, PO2 Brian Guillen from the Tribu Lapu-Lapu Team 2 collapsed before reaching the finished line. He was brought to the Chong Hua Hospital. He was about to finish and will give his team a second place ending when he went down. He is now currently in the hospital receiving medical attention.
Among the celebrities who participated in the event are Enchong Dee and Matteo Guidicelli among others.
