In his second year for the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Terrence Bill Romeo of Global Port Batang Pier had become a “thinspiration.”
Many saw him from a little bulky cager during his college stint in Far Eastern University (FEU) to a now leaner and muscled guy on the court. He said he lost 25 pounds so far.
What are his secrets? Romeo, a UAAP MVP, said his self control gave him the figure that everybody wanted to achieve. He cut down his rice intake and remove unnecessary meals as he continues with rigorous training.
“Bawas kain lang. Kasi dati three rice every meal ako eh. Tapos pwera pa yung midnight snack,” said Romeo. “Ngayon wala ng midnight snack tapos one rice (per meal) lang.”
Romeo, who have represented the Philippines in the FIBA 3×3 World Championships held in Sendai, Japan, said losing weight have also helped him move to the court.
“Sobrang nahihirapan ‘yung tuhod ko, sobrang nahihirapan akong gumalaw,” said Romeo. “So gusto ko lang maiban naman. Gusto kong masubukan ‘yung magaan na weight.”
But, as an athlete, Romeo said he has yet to achieve the right physique he wanted.
“Hindi pa ito ‘yung weight na perfect para sa akin. Kumbaga nasa processing palang ako, hindi pa ito ‘yung gusto ko,” said the the 22-year-old cager. “Hopefully next conference makuha ko ‘yung gusto kong weight.”
