A teenager got a street justice after he failed to run away with the cellphone he robbed from a student in Quezon City.
Mark Oliver Buenaventura has bruised and swollen face when he was brought to the Quezon City Police District Station 10 after bystanders beat him after he attempted to rob a student.
Ariana and her friend were walking home when Buenaventura along with another assailant stopped their motorcycle in front of them. The suspect alighted and grabbed the cellphone from the student, who just gave it because he showed her a deadly weapon.
Ron Dee, a friend of the victim, was able to grab Oliver before the motorcycle revved away. That’s when the people intervened and beat him.
The partner of Oliver, he only identified as Raymond, was able to escape.
Oliver said he was only able to do the crime because of peer pressure. He said Raymond said they will only go for a road trip.
“Sabi niya sa akin gigimik lang kami. Bigla niyang ginitnaan [sina Ariana]. Sabi sa ‘kin kunin mo na, hablutin mo na. Ako naman, hinablot ko naman. Pero ‘di ko naman nakuha nahawakan ko lang po,” said Oliver.
According to the police, Oliver claimed that he is only 17 years old. However, based on its record, he is already 18. He will be facing robbery case.
