Soldiers, Civilians Cry After Marawi Independence Day Flag Ceremony

Several citizens and soldiers can;t help but be emotional while the flag of the Philippines was being raised in Lanao Del Sur, the province’s capital.
In GMA News’ Cedric Castillo’s Twitter account, soldiers and ordinary citizens were seen wiping their tears off their faces as the Philippine flag rose. It has been promised that the Maranaos will rise.

The event is the very first in the province since the terrorist group, Maute attacked it on May 23, the same day President Rodrigo Duterte declared Martial Law in Mindanao.
Since then, a total of 58 members of the government forces while 138 members of the Maute group died. 21 civilians also lost their lives.
