Usually, deep wounds are not the main cause of death. It is the extreme loss of blood.
Now, the mortality to such may now be lessened because scientists already discovered a quicker way to close wounds. It can also be used by ordinary people.
The University of Sydney researchers partnered with Harvard and North Eastern University in the United States discovered a glue that can be used on wounds whether they are external or internal.
Called “MeTro” or short for methacryloyl-substituted tropoelastin is a gel-like substance that can be applied to wounds and will be activated by a light. The substance will then do its job and start the healing process. It can seal any wounds in a matter of seconds.
It won’t run away or be easily removed. The best thing about this is that unlike stitches and staples, it won’t leave a mark.
“The beauty of the MeTro formulation is that, as soon as it comes in contact with tissue surfaces, it solidifies into a gel-like phase without running away,” University of Sydney’s Professor Anthony Weiss.
This product will soon be available and will be commercially marketed by Elastagen Pty. Ltd.
