SAF Takes Over Bilibid

The Special Action Force (SAF) members are now guarding the corrupted National Bilibid Prison (NBP).
Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa reminded the SAF members that giving up on corruption is the start of the fall.
“Wag kayong magpa-corrupt, wag kayong magpapaloko sa baba. Isang report lang na isa sa inyo ay tumanggap ng bribe, kahit piso or kahit isang balot ng candy, that will destroy everything,” said dela Rosa.
During the same speech, dela Rosa also assured the inmates that the SAF wil provide them secure and not harm.
“Ito pong mga dala namin Special Action Force, sila po’y mga pulis. Hindi sila mga berdugo. Huwag niyo pong isipin na sila’y pinapunta rito para ay pagpapatayin yung mga tao diyan sa loob,” said dela Rosa.
While the SAF takes over, the prison guards of the Bureau of Correction (BuCor) will undergo six months of re-training and re-education.
Department of Justice (DOJ) chief Vitaliano Aguirre is confident that the SAF won’t take bribes from the inmates. However, to prevent familiarization, the SAF may be replaced by the members of the military after 3 months.
Before the take over, the DOJ pulled 53 inmates and transferred them in a bus before the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) search the facility. They got 14 contraband items.
