Politicians, Groups Forms Alliance Against President Duterte

On Monday, familiar and unfamiliar faces gathered together at the Club Filipino in San Juan City to launch a group against President Rodrigo Duterte.
#TindigPilipinas, which fronted by Senators Risa Hontiveros, Antonio Trillanes, Kiko Pangilinan and much more, lambasted the policies of the Duterte administration.
“We see a nation being led down a dark path filled with violence, contempt of law, and hate; where honest debate is not only shouted down, but every attempt at the sobriety in public discourse is dismissed with threat,” the coalition’s statement reads.
“If we want this nightmare to end, we must find courage to wake up and come together.”
The statement also called the president to think about his way to fight drugs in the country.
“We call upon him to measure the success of his campaign not on the number of lives killed but on the number of lives redeemed,” the statement said suggesting of healing approach noting of the previous statements saying drug dependence is a sickness.
It also asked the Philippine National Police (PNP) to “end the murderous Oplan Double Barrel, to pursue and prosecute the drug lords with the full might of the law, and uphold the rule of law and constitutional guarantees accorded to each and every citizens of the Republic.”
