The Philippine National Police (PNP) revealed that there are some drug deals that use to happened in the most unsuspecting places.
PNP Chief Inspector Roque Merdegia Jr. revealed that convicted drug lords are able to run their businesses even they are already behind bars.
Crystal meths were found inside the cell of notorious convicted drug lord Peter Co after the PNP Illegal Drug group raided the maximum security compound of the New Bilibid Prison in 2009. He also noted that Co is living like a king inside the camp.
“May flat wall TV, may aquarium, may laptop, may queen size na kama at may lazy boy,” said Merdegia.
Merdegia then revealed that there are some drug lords who also use to sell drugs inside casinos and are opting to be paid with casino chips to make it not obvious that they are carrying tons of cash, which he admittedly giving them hard times.
“Nagtataka kami kung bakit casino chips ang gustong ibayad,” said Merdegia. “Ayaw nila ng cash. SIguro napaka liit kasi no? Iiliang chips lang ‘yun, hindi halatang may dala kang pera. Pag na sa’yo na yung casino chips ipalit mo lang, malinis na ang pera.”
Former PDEA agent, now chairman of an anti-drug advocate group, Jonathan Morales said authorities can’t penetrate through tight security of casino companies, the reason why drugs continues to circulate.
