The warden of the Philippine National Police (PNP) custodial center was relieved and will be facing administrative charges.
This is in connection with the controversial party held at the custodial center for detained Jinggoy Estrada on Saturday and until wee hours of Sunday for his wedding anniversary. Estrada invited his friends and family in his detention facilities.
The PNP Headquarters Support Service found probable cause to charge Superintendent Mario Manala with neglect of duty for two grounds: First, it is for his failure to implement rules and regulations and second, for failure to report what happened last Saturday.
Malana is now on “floating status,” without pay or allowances while his case is still pending. He was replaced by Superintendent Peter Limbauan.
If proven guilty, Manala will face suspension of a minimum of 30 days up to 59 days.
On Wednesday, 55 detainees of the custodial center signed a petition defending Malana saying he is a very good leader and demanded that it must the two senators – Estrada and Ramon Revilla – should be transferred in another detention facility.
Estrada and Revilla are both detained in PNP Custodial Center for plunder charges for allegedly being involved in what is called the “Pork Barrel Scam.”
