Former President Benigno Aquino III attended the Thursday session of Dengvaxia probe of the Senate.
The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee started the probe on the government’s procurement of the anti-dengue vaccine Dengvaxia after the manufacturer, the Sanofi Pasteur admitted the risk, especially to the people who haven’t been communicated with the disease.
Aquino arrived on Thursday after he was invited by the committee to clarify his two meetings with Sanofi Officials before the program was approved in 2015.
“Hindi naman ito kuwestyon whether legal o hindi; more on ethical ba ito o hindi,” said Senator JV Ejercito, the chair of Senate health committee.
Former executive secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr., and budget secretary Florencio Abad also appeared in the hearing.
During the Monday hearing, Senator Richard Gordon, the chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, hinted that Aquino had a hand in the program, which can be considered a failure.
