The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) revealed that a powerful government official is trying to meddle in the case of a jailed drug queen.
PDEA Chief Aaron Aquino revealed that there are powerful people who are backing Yuk Lai Yu, who has been detained in the Correctional Institute for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City.
Lai Yu has been detained for 19 years already but is still involved in drug transactions outside. On Monday, the officials seized drugs and cellphones from her cell. Hours later, her daughter, Diane Yu Uy, was then arrested after 10 million worth of shabu was found inside her condominium unit.
Aquino revealed that there are government officials who are now trying to meddle in.
“Iyang mag-inang iyan, maraming ipinagmamalaking influential people. In fact, marami na ngang tumatawag ngayon at kinakausap sila,” Aquino told DZMM.
Aquino did not identify the officials.
Aquino noted that Uy is the alleged supplier of shabu in CIW. Surveillance clips showed her avoiding frisking by delivering sacks of rice that allegedly contained shabu through the back door. He said assets were able to buy drugs from her thrice before the Monday’s operation.
