The Philippine National Police (PNP) confiscated shabu inside the house of Albuera, Leyte Mayor Ronald Espinosa, Sr. on Wednesday.
Armed with search warrant, a team of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) raided the house of Espinosa in Sitio Tinago, Barangay Binoldo in Albuera town at around 6:00 a.m.. The operation resulted to the seizure of 11 kilograms of shabu that is estimated to worth P88-million.
The police also found several army uniforms and materials for homemade bombs. On Tuesday raid, they seized high-powered firearms.
Albuera Police Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido said the information about the shabu and bomb parts inside Espinosa’s house came from his men who were caught by the police.
On July 28, the police arrested the stuff and security of Espinosa during a buy bust operation and seized P1.9 million worth of Shabu. Some of the men were able to flee by sprinting to the house of Espinosa’s Son, Kerwin.
On August 1, President Rodrigo Duterte gave a 24-hour ultimatum to Espinosa and his son for coddling shabu. If they failed to meet the deadline a “shoot to kill” order will be released against them.
A day after, the Albuera mayor surrendered to the PNP Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa. He was detained at Camp Crame but later was rushed to an undisclosed hospital after suffering from hypertension.
Espinosa admitted that his son is the top drug trafficker in Visayas. He is now declared a fugitive. Reportedly, he left for Malaysia on June 21, which is nine days before Duterte assumed the presidency.
