A boutique in Quezon City permitted the ABS-CBN News to have the copy of their CCTV to expose a modus of thieves.
The footage showed a group, mostly composed of older women with one having a toddler, entering the establishment.
After 30 minutes of roaming around, one opened the box of expensive wallets while the other one asked the crew for a new stock of shoes that gave them the opportunity to hide the wallets at the side of the store.
Later, one member was seen putting the expensive wallets inside her skirt while the other members were covering her. They immediately left the place.
The store said the thieves successfully stole four wallets amounting to P5,000 each.
“Nalaman na lang namin na family pala silang pumasok nung nag review kami ng CCTV. Kasi, yung nga, sabay-sabay sila pumasok,” said Karen Gaba, the manager of the store. “Hiwa-hiwalay kasi sila eh.”
Gaba also believed that the wallets were not the only items the thieves stole as they can be seen putting things inside their clothes.
“Ang ibabayad nila is bigger bill na one thousand pesos. Tapos, yung binibili nila is worth P80 lang,” Gaba said. “So kami namomroblema kami kung kailangan namin ng pang-change sa kanila.”
The officials of the botique also gave the police a copy of their CCTV footage to help them arrest these culprit and also, in order to serve as a warning to business owners.
