The Land Transportation Office (LTO) started the campaign against smoke belchers called “Tanggal Usok, Tanggal Bulok.”
On Monday, members of the agency’s Inter-Agency Council on Traffic Administration (I-ACT) flagged down vehicles targeting the old ones and the smoke belchers. Elmer Argaño, the head of the said department, said a total of 255 violation were recorded along EDSA on that day.
Transport Undersecretary Tim Orbos said the on-road inspection of the PUVs are done thrice in a day. One will be conducted during night time in order to apprehend vehicles with lighting issues.
“Aaraw-arawin ho natin ito. Medyo mahirap dahil talaga hong malaki ang Metro Manila, pero kailangan po nating gawin,” said Orbos.
Orbos also said this campaign will never have a deadline or a certain timeline.
The apprehended drivers will be issued a subpoena and must report to the LTO office within 24 hours.
