A week after her arrest, Senator Leila De Lima made a handwritten letter addressed to her love ones.
The letter, which was dated March 1, 2017, showed De Lima’s disappointment to the justice system of the Philippines. She said she is psychologically prepared for what was happening but she bleeds for the victims of the injustice.
“While I’m psychologically prepared for this, my whole being cries out for truth and justice… My heart also bleeds for all other victims of injustice. Those who were also falsely accused and now cramped in severely congested cells,” said De Lima.
De Lima then noted that she is relying on God so that “EVIL will not triumph.”
ABS-CBN News was able to get a picture of the letter. Check it out:
De Lima was arrested on February 24 on drug trafficking charges. She allegedly received money from convicted drug dealers that paved a way into a grave drug business inside the National Bilibid Prison (NBP).
Leila De Lima is one of the critics of President Rodrigo Duterte even when he was still a mayor of Davao City.
