One of the main authors of the Charter Change is considering to limit the term of the president to four years but with reelection.
ABS Partylist Rep. Eugene Michael de Vera said he and his colleagues are now looking to such possibilities. He was one of the proponents of the House Resolution No. 8.
De Vera said he is in favor of such change because it can tell if people loved the official or not.
“Personally, I’m willing to lift the term limits. You know why? Because you give to the electorate the decision whether to retain or not,” said de Vera. “ba ‘yan sa mg aappointed officials. At least ‘yung mga elective officials, you face your appointing authorities every election year.”
De Vera is also not worried about the rumored “no election.” He said he and his colleagues will propose a transition period of one to three years if the government system will change into federalism.
