Lacson Said He Will Fight To Bring Back The Budget Of CHR

The Congress voted 119-32 to approve the P1,000 budget of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) on Tuesday.
The people are mixed in the decision. The social media of the Philippine went crazy after.
Though majority of the Congress put the agency down, CHR found defenders from the Senate members. One of them is Senator Panfilo Lacson.
Lacson, who sponsored the CHR budget in the Senate, said he will stand his ground. He added that he will fight for the budget.
“Of course we will stand our ground on this matter and more. Once we get hold of the house version of the General Appropriations Bill, we will scrutinize it as we always do in and year out,” said Lacson in a text message to Rappler.
In a tweet, Lacson said he is taking the challenge of fighting for the budget.
“I happen to be the sponsor of the CHR budget in the Senate, along with a few other agencies like the DND (Department of National Defense), ARMM (Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao), etc. I accept the challenge,” Lascon

Chito Gascon, the chairman of CHR said, the commission is hoping for “reason, necessity, and rational minds w2ill prevail both in Senate and in the bicameral committee.”
CHR is a critique of the Duterte Administration, especially on the issue of extra-judicial killings (EJK). In 2009, the agency also investigated Duterte for his alleged involvement in the controversial Davao Death Squad.
