JV Ejercito Calls For Dengvaxia Probe

JV Ejercito Calls For Dengvaxia Probe

| On 02, Dec 2017

Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito called for an investigation in the procurement of Dengvaxia, a dengue vaccine.

Sanofi Pasteur, admitted that based on its findings, the Dengvaxia, though can protect those who are former victims of dengue, can pose harm to those who didn’t have the sickness in the long run.

In his Twitter account on November 30, Ejercito said as a Chair of the Senate Committee on Health, he is calling for an investigation to find out if there are irregularities in the purchase.

“As Chair of the Senate Committee on Health, I intend to call for an investigation on the disturbing findings related to the dengue vaccine, Dengvaxia,” said Ejercito.

“In conjunction with the Blue Ribbon Committee we need to find out government’s response to protect the public and investigate whether there was any irregularity in the procurement of the vaccine,” Ejercito added.

Richard Gordon, the chair of Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, blamed the DOH during the Aquino Administration, for purchasing billions worth of Dengvaxia though they are not yet ready for distribution.

Independent Health Advocate Dr. Anthony Leachon said some of those vaccinated may have severe dengue. DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III said instead of panicking parents must observe their children if they were vaccinated.
