Former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Wednesday said he will not run for 2019 senatorial elections.
Marcos said he will not seek a Senate seat because he won as the vice president of the Philippines. He said he won’t stop until he revealed the truth.
“I am not running for senator in 2019. Hindi ko titigilan itong protestang ito dahil tapat ang aking paniniwala na dinaya ako nitong nakaraang halalan at ipapalabas ko ang tunay na bilang ng boto nang malaman ng tao kung sino ba talaga ang pinili ng taongbayan para maging bise-presidente,” Bongbong said.
Marcos said the calls for him to run may be a “strategy” to force him not to continue fighting.
“I am very thankful for the continuing support that I have received from our countrymen, but that is not what is at stake here. What is at stake here is not only my candidacy, not only the results of the vice-presidency, but what is also at stake here is the electoral process,” Marcos said.
Marcos also wants Justice Benjamin Caguiao out as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) because he is “unfair and unjust.”
In the 2016 elections, Leni Robredo won against Marcos with just 263,473 votes.
