Another young guy, who was raised by a poor family, is making his own name outside the Philippines in the field of academics.
Glimer Argaña, now 23, from Iloilo is a son of farmers. However, he used that as an inspiration to study hard so he can be what he wanted to be.
He took BS Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the University of Perpetual Help in Las Piñas City. He also took additional units for AB Political Science and finished it as Summa Cum Laude.
In 2016, Glimer tried his luck at Royal Navy and passed. He took his masteral course there. It was the same school that encouraged him to take the scholarship examination at Harvard upon the endorsement of his mentors. He passed.
Gilmer will be taking Bachelor of Science in Law at Harvard. The scholarship includes dormitory allowance, free uniform, and a plane ticket to the USA.
In an interview, the parents were ok when they found out that their son will be studying at Harvard. However, they overwhelmed when it came to their knowledge how prestigious the school is.
