Edible Blob To Replace Water Bottles In Races

Imagine competing in a race and you passed by a hydrating station. Instead of a bottle, you were handed by a blob.
Well, if you are aware of the plastic problem of the world, you will be delighted. The good news is that these blobs are edible. So, you can just swallow the whole piece and wait until it dissolves in your mouth.
The packaging is called Ooho, which is made from calcium chloride and brown algae extract, is a gelatinous product that conceals that water inside. It’s edible, therefore, no more wastes.
The gelatinous membrane has no tastes, but the good news is that it’s possible to add flavor to make it more appetizing.
Pierre Paslier, co-founder of Skipping Rocks Lab, the company behind this packaging said people were impressed because of the experience.
“When people try it for the first time, they want to eat it because it’s part of the experience… Then it will be just like the peel of a fruit. You’re not expected to eat the peel of your orange or banana. We are trying to follow the example set by nature for packaging.”
The outer packaging is meant to be peeled as a fruit. But it’s still edible. The best part? Well, it’s cheaper than plastic.
The company is now targeting cafes, restaurants, and much more establishments.
