Duterte To Sign EO On Nationwide Smoking Ban

President Rodrigo Duterte will sign an executive order (EO) that will prohibit people from smoking in public places. This will be effective in the whole country.
Agriculture secretary Manny Piñol confirmed this news to ABS-CBN News via a text message. He said the draft is now being prepared by Department of Health (DOH) secretary Paulyn Ubial.
In January, Ubial said President Duterte asked her to make a draft of an EO that will be patterned to the similar order in Davao City, where he was a mayor for more than two decades.
“The executive order will actually mandate all the agencies of government, including the local government to implement this smoking ban in all public places. It’s not just Metro Manila,” said Ubial.
“There will be no smoking in public places anymore, whether indoor or outdoor. Parks, bus stations, and even in vehicles. All these are considered public places,” Ubial added.
The EO will also give a signal to members of the branch to make a system to have an information distribution to prevent people from smoking in public places.
