President Rodrigo Duterte announced that the Philippine National Police (PNP) will, once again, fronting the drug war.
From the PNP to Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), now again to PNP, said Duterte not minding the critics.
“As of now, just to parry, nilagay ko muna sa [I placed it in the hands of the] PDEA. Whether I like it or not, I have to return that power to the police because surely it will increase the drug activity,” said Duterte.
Duterte gave the drug war to PDEA after the PNP receives criticism because of minors being killed in the operations.
PDEA chief Aaron Aquino hopes that the PNP’s strategies to tackle the drug problem are improved.
“I just hope they can go back, i-review nila ang strategies nila para ‘yung may mali na sinasabi ng iba ay ma-correct,” said Aquino.
Aquino said the PNP is a better agency to tackle down the drug war. He said the PNP has 190,000 personnel compared to the PDEA’s 1,000.
