A report by Buzz Pinas revealed that Disney is set to build an amusement park in the Philippines.
The report cited an unnamed that Disneyland will be erected in Ilocos Norte.
“FYI. Disneyland Philippines will be situated at Ilocos Norte. Construction will run for three years. Excited na ba kayo? Ako din!” said the unnamed source.
The report however has no links leading to the said status.
Representatives from Disneyland has yet to clarify the report.
In 2012, Representative Carmelo Lazatin wrote a letter to the chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Thomas Staggs offering the Clark Freeport Zone as a location for the next Disneyland.
Cynthia Romero Mamon, the chief operating officer of the Enchanted Kingdom, said Disney is unlikely to be established its well-known park in the Philippines because of the small market and inadequate infrastructure.
“I think they wrote to Disney and I think it’s under study. But you could imagine when Disney chooses a location they will look at big markets. Disney is opening in Shanghai — that’s the fact. So, they really look at big markets and infrastructure,” said Mamon.
Walt Disney established the Disneyland after several visits in amusement parks from 1930 to 1950. He said he is longing to build a park where both kids and adults can enjoy.
