Actress Cristine Reyes finally broke her silence and tell the world that a “blessing” is coming her way and boyfriend Ali Khatibi.
After her production number in ASAP, Reyes confirmed that the rumors were true. She is indeed expecting a child with her partner.
“Sa mga kapamilya po natin, I want to share po sa inyong lahat that I have a wonderful blessing. I’m having a baby,” said Reyes who earned claps from the audiences. “Sobrang excited and masaya… Maraming salamat sa pagmamahal, sa lahat ng suporta. Thank you so much. Grabe, nakakataba ng puso.”
Why Keep it as Secret?
Hours after her admission, Reyes said she kept mum about her pregnancy during the first three months as she was advised to take a rest as it is delicate.
“[Ngayon ko lang sinabi] kasi nandito na ako sa stage na 100% sure ako and my baby kase ‘yung first three months ko po na akala ng lahat ng nagtatago ako, critical ‘yung stage ko. Advice ng doctor na kailangan i-bed rest kasi nagkaroon ako ng bleeding. Kailangan ko alagaan ‘yung sarili ko. [Yun din yung dahila] kung bakit hindi ako nagwowork,” Reyes explained.
During the interview, The 25-year-old star star said her pregnancy was never a surprise as she and Khatibi planned about it.
“Kaming dalawa ni Ali magakasam, nagtest kaming dalawa. We are happy kasi it was planned and it’s not a surprise. First test namin, morning ‘yun. Akala namin negative pa so na sad kami. Nung gabi nagtest ulit kami, positive na. After that, ang inuna namin ‘yung family namin,” said Reyes.
No Marriage, but Getting There
Reyes clarified that despite she got pregnant, she and her boyfriend won’t tie-the-knot noting that she prioritizes her baby. She however said that they will end in facing the altar.
“Nagme-marriage counseling na po kami in preparation for the marriage and para meron kaming heads up. Hindi lahat kailangan biglang ikakasal agad. Kailangan meron kang knowledge about it. Kailangan prepared,” said Reyes.
She also admitted that there is a worry on her part that what happened might affect her career. But, she said she is confident that there is a big room in the industry that is enough for her noting that her network, ABS-CBN, will always be there for her.
