A Thai bride and her family will be suing the groom for not attending the wedding.
24-year-old Arunee Jaengkrachang was about to get married to 26-year-old Boonyang Sawatdee her boyfriend of six years at the Khao Din, Thailand’s Kabin Buri District, on October 22. However, he didn’t arrive.
Earlier that day, Arunee was already anxious since Boonyang has yet to be seen. When she called him, he said he will be late that forced her to re-schedule the wedding from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
At 9:00 a.m., she called him again but he was no longer reachable. This prompted the family to just cancel the wedding. The embarrassment brought her to tears and almost fainted.
The family then went to the man’s village. It turned out that he and his family ran away. Later, they learned that he had cold feet after he wasn’t able to raise the dowry worth 200,000 Baht ($6,025) in cash and five-baht weight of gold.
The family is now consulting a lawyer about the possibilities of lawsuits against the man.
The family said they were embarrassed because their relatives were there as well as the news that immediately crawled in the village. They were also left with 22,000 Baht loan that they used to pay the caterer. She also paid 100,000 baht for the wedding preparation.
