Baguio Jewelry Store Loses P10-Million Worth Of Silver To Thieves

A jewelry store in Minesview Park, Baguio City lost millions after thieves barged in.
According to investigators, the robbers accessed a manhole some 240 meters away from the jewelry shop and dug a cave until their reached the target, which was the stalls No. 10 and 11 of Pilak Silver Shop. Then, on January 6, at about 7:00 p.m., they used a hydraulic jack to open the concrete floor that paved a way for them to enter.
The robbers took P49,000 cash as well as the silver crafts, according to Precy Marcelo, the owner. About P10 million was lost. The police estimated that the robbers left the area at about 2:00 a.m. the next day.
According to some people who were questioned by the police, they used to see sacks filled with soil near the manhole since December 28 last year. The authorities also recovered the hydraulic jack and wooden materials.
