A mother from Sydney, Australia flew to Syria leaving her two children behind in order to become a member of the Islamic State group.
Jasmina Milovanov, 26, and an Islam convert, left her children – ages five and seven – to a baby sitter and never returned.
The ex-husband then received a text message telling him that she is already in Syria.
“The only thing I can think about is my children. I can’r believe she left these two beautiful children,” said the husband, whose name was withheld for security purposes. “My son was saying in days afterwards that he hoped ‘my mum is OK.'”
“Before she (went) I talked to her about her extreme Facebook posts. I said this extreme, stupid. I was warning her about about who she hangs out with.”
Based on the investigation, Milovanov was Facebook friend with woman named Zehra Duman, who is known as the “Jihadi Bride Recruiter”. She uses social media to lure women to join the militant group.
Friends of Milovanov use to talk about her dreams of marrying a Jihadi fighter.
A spokeswoman of the New South Wales State Police said the government is now investigating the issue noting that Australian people who “involve themselves in this conflict in any way is of great concern to the Australian government. Clearly we are monitoring the situation.”
The Australian government confirmed the reports that more than a hundred Australian flew to Syria to become a jihadist warrior, with 30 of them were killed in a battle.
