| On 14, Dec 2017

Many wishes will come true this year because today and in the next three days, a meteor shower will happen.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the annual Geminid Meteor Shower will happen on December 14 to 17, 2017.

However, the most meteor will we be seen by the Filipino during the night of December 14 until the dawn on December 15.

“Meteors or “falling stars” can be seen at an average rate of forty (40) meteors per hour under a dark and cloudless sky condition,” the agency said.

The Gemenid becomes more active when the Earth passes through the debris trail of an object called 3200 Phateon. The meteors are dust from the said debris that burns up in the Earth’s atmosphere, which will be quite visible from the people below.

Though the meteors are visible to the naked eye, enthusiasts recommend people to use instruments so the experience will be one of a kind.
